NEW YORK -- Light Reading (www.lightreading.com), the world's leading online publication for the telecom industry, and Heavy Reading (www.heavyreading.com), its prestigious market research division, today announced finalists for their 2007 Ethernet Service Provider of the Year Awards for Europe. Light Reading is an operating unit of CMP Technology.

Over the past year, Heavy Reading has examined and interviewed dozens of European operators that provide Ethernet connectivity services and Ethernet-based applications. Heavy Reading has closely tracked developments in this area, paying particular attention to the transformation taking place in the business data services market.

According to Stan Hubbard, Heavy Reading Senior Analyst and Ethernet Expo: Europe 2007 Conference Chair, "European operators generally have been at the forefront of the deployment of carrier Ethernet, MPLS, and VPLS technology in support of high-performance Ethernet enterprise connectivity services, Ethernet-based business applications such as VOIP and storage extension, and Ethernet-based consumer services such as IPTV."
