AT&T Unveils Consumer VoIP Pricing

During a keynote speech by AT&T head geek Hossein Eslambolchi, show attendees were tipped to the fact that AT&T now has pricing and availability for the consumer VoIP services it announced last year. The service, named "CallVantage," is priced at $39.99 a month.

The Community Can't Answer The Phone

This isn't related to the VON show, but it was such a good line it can't wait. At Monday evening's Churchill Club event in San Jose, Wal-Mart CIO Linda Dillman was asked why Wal-Mart doesn't use open source code in its IT operations. One reason, she said, is because "when I need support, I need to know the person I'm going to call. And it can't be a community."

Ouch! Look for an extended report on the Churchill Club event later this week, after we're done with the reports from VON, which will continue Tuesday and Wednesday.
