Multitasking at SNW

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Trapped within the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort for the last few days eating, drinking, and sleeping storage, it is hard to imagine the world outside of not-so-sunny Florida.

But some of the big-name storage vendors at the show aren't focused on SNW alone. Several have used other events elsewhere in the U.S. this week to showcase their wares.

With RSA underway in San Francisco, and the NAB conference about to start in Las Vegas, some vendors have opted to make their big storage announcements miles away from the golf courses and faceless resort hotels of the Florida landfill.

Cue EMC, which beefed up encryption on its PowerPath software over at RSA today, and HP, which overhauled its own security products in San Francisco earlier this week.

Further confusing matters, the Open Fabrics Alliance, which aims to develop an open-source software stack for RDMA-capable fabrics and networks, is hosting its annual international workshop in Sonoma, Calif. this week.
