iStor Networks Appoints CEO

IRVINE, Calif. -- iStor Networks, Inc., a leading manufacturer of network storage solutions, today announced that Dr. Kevin C. Daly, one of the data storage industry’s most noted pioneers, has assumed the role of chief executive officer, expanding on his existing position as chairman of the board. Simon Huang, a founder of iStor, will assume the role of chief operating officer working with Mr. Daly to grow iStor on a worldwide basis.

Mr. Daly’s prior experience includes a CEO post with Avamar Technologies, a venture funded start-up that evolved to become the industry’s leading provider of data protection software with de-duplication. Avamar was acquired by storage giant EMC in 2006 for $165 million. Mr. Daly’s background includes a five year tenure as CEO of ATL Products, Inc., the pioneer of the first open systems tape libraries. Under his guidance, ATL reached $400 million in annual revenue ATL completed a successful IPO in 1997 and subsequently was acquired by worldwide tape drive leader Quantum Corporation in 1998. Mr. Daly remained CEO of the newly formed entity, Quantum/ATL, and eventually transitioned to CTO of Quantum’s Storage Solutions Group, where he oversaw the development of the first disk-based virtual tape library.
