Welcome To The New Byte and Switch

Storage is evolving, and so is Byte and Switch. We've redesigned and enhanced our Web site to better serve your needs for storage news and information.

These are exciting and challenging times for IT managers and storage administrators, as new technologies and new requirements affect the way you store and protect growing amounts of business-critical data. We have redesigned and enhanced Byte and Switch, the storage industry's leading source of news and information, to serve those needs. For years, Byte and Switch has given you the best in storage industry insights and analysis. Now, the new and improved Byte and Switch will provide you with even more information to help you understand the new options you have for building and managing a next-generation storage and data center infrastructure.

We have spent months talking to enterprise IT managers, industry analysts and vendor executives to develop the site you see now, with the goal of creating a one-stop site for the business and technology news you need to do your job better. As you can see, we have completely redesigned the site, with a new colorful look that is more open and easier to read. We have added a host of new features and content and a new way to present stories, using topical channels to help you find the information you need on the subjects and issues that are most important to you. We've also redesigned our daily and weekly newsletters.

Byte and Switch also has expanded our roster of writers and bloggers, adding some of the top industry reporters, analysts, consultants and end users to help you better understand the new storage products, technologies and best practices that are being adopted by savvy and forward thinking IT managers. The site also features new sections to highlight the best content elsewhere on the Web. We've also improved the site's interactive features, giving you an easier way to react to and comment on stories and blog posts.

And this is just the beginning. In the coming weeks and months stay tuned for more stories, blogs, case studies and other forms of information that can help you navigate through the changes that seem to be hitting the storage industry on a daily basis. You need to stay on top of new technologies like virtualization, solid-state disks, data deduplication and Fibre Channel over Ethernet, industry trends like data center consolidations and cloud computing and cloud storage, or business developments like mergers and acquisitions. You can count on Byte and Switch to keep you informed.

We also want you to keep us and your peers informed, and to that end we will be developing more interactive capabilities so you can share your views on the news of the day, your opinions on industry developments, and your advice on best practices on the site. Managing an enterprise storage infrastructure is a tough job, but it can be made easier by learning from those who are going through the same challenges that you are experiencing. We already have a community of IT proffessionals at Byte and Switch, and we are enhancing the features of the site to make it easier for you to share such information.

We hope you like what you see here. Let us know.

If you thought consumerization killed UC, think again: 70% of our 488 respondents have or plan to put systems in place. Of those, 34% will roll UC out to 76% or more of their user base. And there’s some good news for UCaaS providers.
