Politicians are blogging to their constituents. Game and software developers are blogging directly to end users. Project managers can update an entire team on progress, goals and deadlines. Some employees would like to blog about their work, and management wants to retain some editorial control over what is posted. Some blogs attract large numbers of visitors, who may be interested in the type of products you sell. With all the cross-linking bloggers do, this is a good source of grassroots marketing, advocacy and product awareness.

A small-time blog site isn't difficult to set up. Blogging is built into new releases of Mac OS X Server, and free packages like Blosxom can drop right into Apache or IIS.
