Citrix Systems, a company focused on application delivery infrastructure, announced the availability of a new software-based WAN optimization client, which is designed to extend LAN-like application performance to mobile employees, even when they're working outside of branch office locations.

WANScaler is set up to be both an appliance installed at each branch office, as well as a software client installed on each user's PC. This extends the benefits of WAN optimization outside the branch, enabling mobile users to access applications from wherever they choose to work. The WANScaler client will be available in WANScaler Version 4, which is slated to be commercially available in June. WANScaler client pricing ranges from $50 to $170 per user, depending on size of deployment. WANScaler appliance pricing begins at $5,000.

SecureWave, an endpoint security company, released Sanctuary 4.2, the latest version of its flagship endpoint security software -- policy enforcement for centrally managing and monitoring device and application use on corporate PCs, laptops, and servers.

Sanctuary is designed to provide companies with a single solution for defining and enforcing policies for acceptable use of removable storage media and applications, enabling administrators to proactively defend against data leakage, and introduction and proliferation of malware and other threats. With this version, custom queries can be generated in an HTML, XML, or CSV format and delivered via e-mail or network file share. Sanctuary 4.2 will be available in June. Pricing starts at $56 per user license.
