Absolute Software is entering the IT service management (ITSM) arena with Absolute Service, which the company said is designed to help enterprises better align IT with business requirements using ITIL best practices to control service levels and predict points of failure. Customers can deploy Absolute Service on-premise or on-demand and transition between the two models based on their needs.
Absolute Service integrates with Absolute Manage, the company's endpoint management software, to access configuration management data. The new product has received PinkVERIFY ITIL 3 Certification for 11 ITIL processes, including availability management, problem management and capacity management. It features more than 140 widgets, so the user interface can be customized. IT staff can also access the console on iOS and Android devices. The service is available now; pricing ranges from $995 to $3,495, depending on functionality, for the on-premise version. The on-demand version $100 to $150 per user month.
CloudByte Promises Storage QoS
CloudByte has released a beta version of its ElastiStor, a software-based storage controller that aims to help enterprise data centers build storage pools for a private cloud and for service providers that want to offer multitenant storage services. The software lets administrators configure storage resources for different applications based on capacity, IOPs and latency.
ElastiStor 1.1 can be managed by a Web-based console. It is certified for Xen Server 6.0, ClouldPlatform 2.x and 3.x, and is Citrix Ready. ElastiStor 1.1 lets enterprises build a storage environment on industry-standard hardware that can include SATA, SAS or SSD. Pricing was not disclosed.
Prelert Digs Into Splunk
Prelert has expanded its line of diagnostic and predictive analytic tools with Anomaly Detective, software designed specifically for Splunk Enterprise, which monitors and analyzes log data from IT systems. Anomaly Detective is designed to enhance the analysis capabilities of Splunk and provide actionable information more quickly. Anomaly Detective can be downloaded for a free 30-day trial. Pricing for Anomaly Detective is based on the amount of data analyzed per day and starts at $1,200 for environments indexing more than 500 Mbytes per day.
Keynote Offers Free Spot-Checks of Mobile Sites
Keynote has released DeviceAnywhereFree, which lets developers spot-check mobile websites, for free, on a variety of mobile devices. DeviceAnywhere Free lets users interactively test the functionality and content rendering of mobile websites on active smartphones through 10-minute sessions.
Through a Web interface, DeviceAnywhere Free users can see how well their mobile websites work on common smartphones such as iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices. They can press and swipe touchscreens, click through their sites and capture screenshots to better understand how their sites are operating. Keynote says it will allow an unlimited number of sessions.
