The Engenio 4900 is a modular, mid-range storage system aimed squarely at the middle of a market stretching from large workgroups to small data centers. With up to 112 drives, the system can provide the sort of storage that even smaller enterprises are now demanding.

Customers looking for the Engenio 4900 will have to look under the covers of systems from a variety of different vendors. One example, though, is the IBM  DS 5020, released on August 25. Sun, Teradata, HP are examples of companies with existing relationships with LSI for products. Watch for upcoming releases from these and other vendors to see if the capabilities and capacities sound familiar.
