Where the Cloud Touches Down: Simplifying Data Center Infrastructure Management

Thursday, July 25, 2013
10:00 AM PT/1:00 PM ET

In most data centers, DCIM rests on a shaky foundation of manual record keeping and scattered documentation. OpManager replaces data center documentation with a single repository for data, QRCodes for asset tracking, accurate 3D mapping of asset locations, and a configuration management database (CMDB). In this webcast, sponsored by ManageEngine, you will see how a real-world datacenter mapping stored in racktables gets imported into OpManager, which then provides a 3D visualization of where assets actually are. You'll also see how the QR Code generator helps you make the link between real assets and the monitoring world, and how the layered CMDB provides a single point of view for all your configuration data.

OpenFlow Test Deployment Options

April 08, 2013 12:54 PM
OpenFlow can be introduced into production networks in several ways. I’ll look at two options for deploying OpenFlow that network engineers can use to test the protocol and get their feet wet with SDN.

SDN Is Business, OpenFlow Is Technology

November 15, 2012 06:14 PM
Software-defined networking (SDN) and OpenFlow aren’t the same thing. We’ll clarify the technical differences and discuss a more important distinction: SDN emphasizes applications that drive network usability and business requirements, while OpenFlow is a technology to link an SDN controller and network devices.

Arista's Virtual Switch Takes Aim At Cisco's Nexus 1000V

August 26, 2009 03:41 PM
Using VMWare API's, vEOS manages VMWare's vNetwork virtual switch, allowing computing resources to be moved seamlessly from physical to virtual machines and from hypervisor to hypervisor. The network port personality like ACL's, QoS, and configuration, travels with the VM regardless of MAC address changes. In addition, vEOS provides enhanced monitoring.
