Video conferencing provider Vidyo is now offering a version of its platform that can be used by telecommunications and other companies to deliver video conferencing technology as a cloud service. On Tuesday, Vidyo introduced VidyoRouter Cloud Edition, which uses the company's patented version of the H.264 scalable video coding (SVC) compression standard. The technology delivers high-definition video over the Internet and conventional IP networks to a variety of endpoint devices, from HD TVs to smartphones.

Vidyo, Inc., today announced the availability of its VidyoTechnology Software Development Kit (SDK), enabling developers to build multipoint video conferencing applications into Android and Moblin-based smart phones and tablets running Intel Atom Processor Z6xx series-based platforms (formerly Moorestown) and on ARM processor-based platforms. In addition, VidyoTechnology will support the MeeGo software platform when it becomes available. VidyoTechnology is currently used by OEM customers to integrate video conferencing into consumer video chat, unified communications and the highest quality immersive telepresence solutions.

Vidyo's product line includes a room system, VidyoRoom, as well as a PC client, gateway-to-SIP and H.323 devices, as well as a friendly administrative system. Vidyo uses off-the-shelf cameras and microphones that you can purchase anywhere. We tested VidyoRoom and several PC clients at Hippensteel Labs.

Yesterday, I spent the day in a room meeting a stream of vendors. It was like speed dating, but more fun. There are definitely some interesting products coming out of large and small vendors alike.

Vidyo Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has awarded the company a patent for its VidyoRouter architecture which delivers reliable, low latency, multipoint conferencing over any IP network including the Internet. The patent (U.S. Patent No. 7,593,032 entitled "System and Method for a Conference Server Architecture for Low Delay and Distributed Conferencing Applications") covers the key intellectual property behind Vidyo's groundbreaking video conferencing technology.
