Where the Cloud Touches Down: Simplifying Data Center Infrastructure Management

Thursday, July 25, 2013
10:00 AM PT/1:00 PM ET

In most data centers, DCIM rests on a shaky foundation of manual record keeping and scattered documentation. OpManager replaces data center documentation with a single repository for data, QRCodes for asset tracking, accurate 3D mapping of asset locations, and a configuration management database (CMDB). In this webcast, sponsored by ManageEngine, you will see how a real-world datacenter mapping stored in racktables gets imported into OpManager, which then provides a 3D visualization of where assets actually are. You'll also see how the QR Code generator helps you make the link between real assets and the monitoring world, and how the layered CMDB provides a single point of view for all your configuration data.

Toward More Reliable Wireless With AirMagnet Enterprise 10

February 27, 2012 04:40 PM
If the phone isn't ringing, then your wireless users must not be feeling any pain, right? That can be a dangerous assumption in large, complicated wireless networks. Some issues may not be crystallized enough to raise your clients' ire, but the fact remains that performance is degraded. AirMagnet's latest Enterprise version wants to make hard-to-find problems more obvious even as the WLAN gets ever more complex.

Encryption Key To Evolving Data-Centric Security Model

February 07, 2012 11:00 AM
With data access no longer restricted to the four walls of the enterprise (or branch) and 9-to-5 business hours, enterprises that have traditionally relied on a perimeter-based approach to security are now seeing the benefits of a data-centric approach. Data encryption is paving the way for the transition to data-centric security methods, according to a survey of 506 IT professionals.

Ponemon Auditors' Survey Reveals Poor Opinion Of Security Programs

March 15, 2011 10:30 AM
Auditors generally take a dim view of the data security programs at organizations that they audit, according to a Ponemon Institute survey sponsored by Thales eSecurity. Only about one-third of the respondents said that the organizations are proactive in managing privacy and data protection risks. Further, three of five say they don't feel data security is a strategic priority. Fewer than half believe these organizations have sufficient resources to meet their data compliance requirements. The net outcome is that half the audits they conduct reveal serious deficiencies or compliance failures.

Data Security Firm nuBridges Offers Tokenization In The Cloud

February 17, 2011 10:31 AM
A company that offers data security with a process called tokenization is about to offer the technology in the cloud. Atlanta-based nuBridges unveiled its tokenization-as-a-service (TaaS) offering, available sometime in March, at the RSA Conference 2011 going on this week in San Francisco. Tokenization is the process of creating tokens that represent data secured in another database. A new Payment Card Industry (PCI) survey finds that respondents anticipate significantly increased spending on PCI compliance this year, which should drive security-related budgets across numerous IT areas. The survey of 500 IT executives on what's happening as a result of the recent update to the 5-year-old PCI Data Security Standards (PCI DSS 2.0), conducted by InsightExpress on behalf of Cisco, also found that the majority of respondents believe their organizations are more secure than they would be if PCI compliance wasn't required.
