December 02, 2010 10:37 AM
With the acquisition of LineSider Technologies, Cisco plans to aid its enterprise and cloud-bound service provider customers in their pursuit of superior network provisioning capabilities. LineSider Technologies provides network management software that integrates both physical and virtual network services with a policy-based approach that, according to Cisco, makes networks more flexible and responsive to change.Harnessing vSphere Performance Benefits For NUMA: Part 2
December 14, 2009 05:32 PM
In my last post I talked a great deal about native support for NUMA in vSphere on enabled Opteron and Nehalem processor platforms. NUMA is a strong technology in and of itself, but it really starts to shine when teamed with other supporting technologies. In this post, I'm going to cover the details of integrating next generation networking and interrupt technologies to improve storage and networking performance. I'll focus on MSI-X, but future posts will cover VMDq, RSS and Multiple Queue's in more detail, as all these technologies work closely to distribute load to multi-core CPUs and dramatically improve system performance.Linesider Overdrive Automates Network Management
October 22, 2009 12:00 PM
One of the thornier issues with building a dynamic infrastructure for a data center or campus LAN is creating a simple, robust, and reliable management system to configure network connectivity. Unless you have the luxury of designing a brand new network, chances are you have a mix of routers, switches and network gear from more than one vendor. Linesider Overdrive Network Services Virtualization Platform aims to simplify the management by abstracting the actual commands from the goals of a task.3Com, LineSider Partner on Application-Aware Virtualization and Network Management
