Several months ago, an IT trade publication (which will remain nameless) published an article whose title stated that public cloud security remains "mission impossible." While the article was well-reasoned and backed off from the title's hyperbolic assertion, the damage had already been done. Actually, the title should have been something more like, "Public cloud security is mission possible, but proceed cautiously."The Inevitability of Private Cloud

While there are many improvements to System Center, building a private cloud using anyone's software is far from easy. At Microsoft's private cloud reviewers' workshop, we got a peek at the sausage factory. While many technologies blamed the laggard economy of 2011 for their failures, cloud storage was one of the few that could point to it for its success. Numerous information technology organizations, facing data growth due to factors such as the requirement to keep data for electronic discovery purposes, found themselves with growing storage requirements yet smaller budgets. But cloud storage systems and services helped users deal with the uncertain economics of 2011 by letting them fund that growth using operational expenditure funding, rather than having to make capital expenditures in the hardware, software and people required to run one's own data center.« Previous Page | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | Next Page »
