June 01, 2010 10:00 AM
As organizations start the slow move toward cloud computing and begin deploying more of their infrastructure in off-premise private cloud environments, the challenge of end-to-end APM becomes increasingly complex. Application Performance Aggregation (APA) as the next big wave in end-to-end application performance monitoring (APM) and where the APM market will be in a few years.Network Instruments Increases Performance Management Capabilities

Monitoring and managing how well networks and applications perform in today's increasingly multi-tiered, highly distributed environments is complex. It requires information culled from the myriad network devices, systems and applications to understand where problems are occurring, how they are impacting end users, and how they can be resolved. Network Instruments is tackling this complexity with new additions to its Observer performance monitoring platform.Startup AppDynamics Offers A Free, Lite APM
May 24, 2010 10:00 AM
AppDynamics, a startup which early this year introduced application performance management (APM) software to manage applications running in cloud, virtual and service-oriented architecture (SOA) environments, is now offering a free edition of the software, AppDynamics Lite. The new edition has been available for download from AppDynamics' site since mid-May and provides much--but not all--of the capability of the company's full-blown software, AppDynamics 2.0. The free software can be downloaded directly to an application server and used to help companies troubleshoot and diagnose the root cause of performance problems in production environments.Holistic APM, 24 months later

Two years ago, we completed an ambitious test of nine APM vendors over the course of almost a year. We designed a thesis around holistic APM products that not only identify problems but take corrective action to resolve performance issues before they impact users and customers. Actions may include allocating additional bandwidth or server processing capacity, even rolling back configuration changes.Plurality Ltd. April 20, 2010 08:00 AM
We caught up with Jim Metzler to discuss his plans for the Interop Application Delivery 2.0 track. Application delivery has always been important, but new demands are being made on IT to delivery applications to user where ever they are on what ever device they are using. Users are getting spoiled by ubiquitous bandwidth and more powerful computing devices like netbooks and PDA's. Getting the app to the user efficiently and securely is a challenge. Where that application resides such as a data center or cloud service certainly impacts IT's ability to deliver. These are some of the topics in the Interop Application Delivery 2.0 track.AppDynamics Pushes Application Performance Management to the Cloud
