GigaSpaces Technologies, which specializes in products that address scalability in the application stack, is now shipping eXtreme Application Platform (XAP) 8.0, which enables organizations to transition their existing infrastructure into more modern systems such as distributed architectures, virtualized environments and the cloud. The company says its Same Data, Any API capability promotes openness and interoperability, supporting all common interfaces for accessing data, such as Memcached, JPA, JMS, Document and the "highly efficient" native object-oriented API.

Virtela Cloud Accelerator Looks To Boost Cloud Performance

Talari Takes Big Bite Out Of WAN Costs

The latest addition Talari Networks' Adaptive Private Networking (APN) family, the Mercury T750 appliance, is targeted at midsize enterprises with up to 24 remote sites. Intended for deployment in the data center, and starting at $21,995, the 1U rack-mountable T750 can be used with the company's branch office (T730), SOHO (T200) and data center (T3000) products. The new appliance supports WAN bandwidth aggregation up to 120Mbps downstream and 60Mbps upstream, while doing 128-bit AES encryption. Running the same APN software as the T3000, the T750 comes with nine user-configurable Gigabit Ethernet ports, two bypass port pairs, a management interface, solid-state disk and high-availability configuration with two units.

HP, IBM, VMware Rank Highest For Configuration Management Tools

An industry analysis released this month rates Hewlett-Packard, IBM and VMware as "value leaders" for configuration management tools that can identify software applications running on a network and the impact of network configuration changes that will affect how those applications run. The report, from Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), rates those vendors high based on their product strengths and cost efficiencies. Other vendors ranked as a "strong value," the second highest ranking, were ASG, ServiceNow, OpTier and ManageEngine.

Application performance management vendor Precise has unveiled a managed service offering featuring its Transaction Performance Management software. Transaction Performance Management is designed to help companies monitor the performance of applications and systems, identify performance trends, and troubleshoot and resolve issues. Precise says it developed the service, called Precise Managed Service Provider, to ease the complexities of managing application performance and to help improve IT's quality of service.

OpTier Enhances Business Transaction Management

OpTier Inc. has enhanced its Business Transaction Management (BTM) software to provide an easier- to-use dashboard-based interface that includes role-based views with more of an emphasis on business needs. BTM is used for user experience management, application transaction profiling, application diagnostics, auto-discovery of transaction dependencies, and complex event processing. BTM 4 now also includes a back-end online analytical processing engine for better analysis of application performance data, improved diagnostic capability, and the ability to track business transaction using existing application log files, as well as improvements in how the software is installed and deployed.
