Start-up Aryaka Launches Cloud-Based Application Acceleration And WAN Optimization Service
September 23, 2010 09:16 AM
Coming out of stealth mode this week, Aryaka Networks has launched an application acceleration and WAN optimization solution that runs in the cloud. The Aryaka platform is designed to be an alternative to hardware and software-based network optimization solutions, such as those offered by Akamai, Blue Coat, Citrix, Cisco, Riverbed, Blue Coat and others. The company characterizes their service as "Riverbed meets Akamai."vSphere's Enhanced I/O Augments IO Virtualization
August 10, 2010 11:08 AM
As organizations look to reduce branch office costs by replacing their physical appliances with virtual ones, they also have to confront the growing problem of resource sharing. Loading multiple virtual machines onto a single ESX server can be a good way to guarantee that none of the VMs perform at their best as they contend for I/O resources. With the introduction of vSphere 4.1, VMware addresses this issue by making significant improvements to how the hypervisor controls I/O storage and network access.Riverbed Tackles The Virtual Branch With Virtual Steelhead
July 23, 2010 09:27 AM
Riverbed fulfilled a promise made last fall with the introduction of a new virtual WAN optimizer today. The Virtual Steelhead is the latest in a string of virtual WAN optimizers that we've seen from vendors such as Blue Coat, A10 Networks and Certeon. As with those vendors, Riverbed has ported its physical appliance onto the VMware platform and can support line speeds from 1 Mbps up to 90 Mbps.Riverbed Adds Microsoft Security Software On WAN Appliance
June 30, 2010 04:15 PM
Riverbed is announcing that Microsoft's Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG) will be available on Riverbed's Steelhead WAN optimization platform. TMG provides URL filtering, application proxying, and application and network-layer firewalling. With the introduction of TMG to the Steelhead platform, customers can enforce a consistent Web security policy for application protection, malware inspection and URL filtering at branch offices. Riverbed's Steelhead appliances include the Riverbed Services Platform (RSP), a VMware-based architecture that allows the device to run virtual appliances from select partners such Microsoft.New Riverbed OS Accelerates Microsoft And More
June 07, 2010 02:49 PM
Riverbed Technology has announced version 6.1 of the Riverbed Optimization System (RiOS), the operating system underlying its WAN optimizers. With 6.1, Riverbed adds application optimization to a range of Microsoft suites, including Exchange 2010, SharePoint, and Microsoft Online for SharePoint and Exchange. It also adds support for Lotus Notes 8.5. Additionally, RiOS 6.1 delivers enhanced optimizations for disaster recovery (DR) performance by improving on storage networking protocols.Infoblox's Data Integrates With VMware; Announces IF-MAP Server
May 24, 2010 11:26 AM
Infoblox, known for its IP Address Management (IPAM) appliances, is extending its reach into virtualization by integrating with a virtual appliance of their IPAM appliance called vNios that will run in VMware Server and ESXi v4. Infoblox has integrated with vCenter Server to pull virtual host information into Infoblox. Finally, Infoblox is launching Orchestration Server, which is an IF-MAP server that can be the central integration point for containing network device information. The three announcements combined put Infoblox's stake in the ground as the company tries to get in on the groundswell of the virtual data center movement.VM6 Software's VMex Virtualization Suite: From The Data Center Into The Branch
April 23, 2010 09:38 AM
VM6 VMex is changing the face of virtualization much like desktop software application suites did for that market back in the 80s. The software provides a virtualization suite based on Hyper-V that offers virtual, shared storage, advanced clustering, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and virtual machine management. As with application suites, VM6 is offering something that can't found with the individual components: simplicity. With VM6, small- to-medium businesses (SMBs) gain an all in-one IT infrastructure. They no longer need to hire experts, spend huge budgets on integration or pay for specialized software.Riverbed And McAfee Harden WAN Optimization
April 08, 2010 01:05 PM
One of the benefits of WAN Optimization is the ability to consolidate server resources currently located in remote offices back into a central data center. By reducing the hardware requirements in remote offices, you might be able to lessen capital expenses and will certainly reduce operational expenses such as power, cooling and management. Further savings can be had using broadband Internet connections and a VPN to interconnect remote offices. Making that just a little easier, Riverbed and McAfee are partnering to offer McAfee's Firewall Enterprise on Riverbed's Steelhead platforms, removing the additional firewall appliance in the branch and providing a robust firewall and VPN security system.Riverbed Ramps Up Disaster Recovery
February 09, 2010 11:30 AM
Riverbed's two new SteelHead appliance models, the 7050-L (low) and 7050-M (medium) add to the upper end of the company's appliance line, increasing WAN throughput and connection performance as well as enhancing disaster recovery fault tolerant options. The 7050-L lists for $179,995 and the 7050-M lists for $234,995 and will be available in Q1, 2010.Riverbed Updates Cascade 8.4 With Application Performance Management
January 26, 2010 08:00 AM
When WAN optimization vendor Riverbed acquired network anomaly detection vendor Mazu Networks in 2009, it was a natural fit with Riverbed optimizing applications over the WAN and Mazu providing the application detection and monitoring. With Cascade 8.4, the integration is moving along on two fronts, with Cascade providing what the company calls end-user experience monitoring and a sensor agent for the company's Riverbed Services Platform (RSP) to gather application performance statistics from Riverbed appliances. These are both moves by Riverbed close the loop between WAN optimization, application performance management and action.« Previous Page | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Next Page »
