Where the Cloud Touches Down: Simplifying Data Center Infrastructure Management

Thursday, July 25, 2013
10:00 AM PT/1:00 PM ET

In most data centers, DCIM rests on a shaky foundation of manual record keeping and scattered documentation. OpManager replaces data center documentation with a single repository for data, QRCodes for asset tracking, accurate 3D mapping of asset locations, and a configuration management database (CMDB). In this webcast, sponsored by ManageEngine, you will see how a real-world datacenter mapping stored in racktables gets imported into OpManager, which then provides a 3D visualization of where assets actually are. You'll also see how the QR Code generator helps you make the link between real assets and the monitoring world, and how the layered CMDB provides a single point of view for all your configuration data.

Net Neutrality Debate Intensifies

May 14, 2010 11:29 AM
The battle lines over Federal Communications Commission chairman Julius Genachowski's proposal to classify broadband as a telecommunications service are hardening, as some Republican lawmakers are claiming the FCC chairman is seeking "to hurtle the agency down a misguided path." On the other side of the issue, new Democratic commissioner Mignon Clyburn said the broadband discussion is being overly influenced by lobbyists.

FCC Chair Pitches Restraint In Net Neutrality

May 07, 2010 09:00 AM
Federal Communications Commission chairman Julius Genachowski revealed his "Third Way" to attempt to solve the Net neutrality issue that has been dogging Internet regulation negotiations for weeks. FCC Aims For Nationwide Broadband Access By 2020

March 17, 2010 11:00 AM
Every household and business in the U.S. should have access to broadband Internet with a minimum of 4Mbps download and 1Mbps upload by 2020. That's the target set by the FCC's National Broadband Plan, released this week. The FCC was charged with the project a year ago. The plan outlines several ways that the government, including the FCC and Congress, can influence the development of broadband infrastructure in the United States, such as making 500 MHz of spectrum available for broadband over the next ten years.

Last Day To Comment On FCC Rules; Don't Be Swayed By EFF FUD

January 14, 2010 12:14 PM
Last day to comment on the FCC network neutrality rules. But yet again, an organization is trying to wrongly conflate an unrelated issue with network neutrality. I suppose I should expect better from the EFF. The organization does, after all have an agenda to promote and while I think the organization has done some good work in protecting civil liberties and freedoms, they are wrong on the FCC proposed rules and their claimed loophole allowing the proposed rules to not apply to copyrighted works. They have put up a petition asking people to sign, I'd urge you not to. Service providers should not be compelled to transfer illegal content.

The Truth About The FCC Proposed Rules On Net Neutrality

October 27, 2009 09:32 AM
Ever since the FCC announced their proposed rules on net neutrality, there has been massive misinformation from news outlets, commentators, politicians, and political groups. The proposed rulings repeatedly state that the provisions are subject to network management, don't impede law enforcement or emergency preparedness and don't require providers to allow illegal activity, such as copyright infringement or pirating. Anyone who says differently is either misinformed or lying.

October 26, 2009 12:12 PM
The move opens up a vehicle for comments, but how and to what degree the Internet should be free or regulated remains to be decided.
