F5 Networks, an application delivery networking provider, has introduced versions of its Big-IP Edge Client and Big-IP Edge Portal applications that can run on wireless devices from Apple, including the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The applications, which operate on a virtual private network, enable workers to access files and other content on the corporate network remotely, but conform to the security and compliance requirements set for devices that operate behind the firewall.

F5 Addresses Unstructured Storage Growth

F5 Networks, which specializes in application delivery networking (ADN), is releasing cloud (ARX Cloud Extender) and virtualization (ARX Virtual Edition) enhancements to its lineup, as well as a file services solution with an open storage management API (F5 iControl). The company says these enhancements will help extend the file storage infrastructure from the data center to the cloud, accelerate automated storage tiering ROI and provide more flexible deployment options for its solutions.

F5 Adds Oracle Database Support To Its Application Delivery Controller

F5 Networks has announced a new portfolio of tools designed to help IT managers more easily administer and optimize their Oracle Database deployments. The Application Ready Solution, which builds on F5's existing solutions for Oracle applications such as Oracle E-business Suite and Fusion Middleware, delivers capabilities specifically for the database, including visibility into database performance and improved data replication. F5 has integrated their BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager and WAN Optimization module with Oracle Database, including Real Application Clusters (RAC), Data Guard, Streams, Recovery Manager and DB Firewall.
