McAfee announced three additions to its security platform at Interop in Las Vegas this week, including an improvement in performance and scalability, and some enhancements to its support for virtual environments.
First, the company's XC Cluster can scale to 80 Gbps. It appears as a single appliance, but administrators can virtualize it and apply policies to each virtual machine.

Second, McAfee has formed a partnership with VMware that allows administrators to apply security policy to virtualized environments, and the policy stays with the virtual machine when it moves.
Finally, McAfee has extended its network threat behavior analysis capability to remote networks, using what it calls a "virtual appliance." That is, McAfee's software examines traffic flows and correlates network behavior with the inspection information gathered from its in-line appliance. This is especially helpful in environments where there are new devices joining the network, for example.
Greg Brown, McAfee's Cloud and Data Center CTO, discusses all of these new capabilities for the company's security platform in the video embedded below.
