Quick Takes

Telex Communications Nexus Platinum

Telex Communications has delivered its first commercially available enterprise communications tool, the Nexus Platinum conference phone. Designed for use by three to 20 people with extension capability, the Nexus has 360-degree voice tracking microphones that follow the speaker while canceling out ambient noise. Further filtering and signal processing is performed by a DSP (Digital Signal Processor) chip. The company claims its competitive pricing is thanks to its experience designing communications systems for broadcast control rooms and aircraft cockpits. $699. AppDancer Networks AppDancer/FA Network Flow Analyzer

AppDancer Networks has improved its award-winning protocol analyzer, the AppDancer/FA Network Flow Analyzer, which we reviewed in September. This tool provides a top-down analysis of the flow or conversation between client and server in granular detail. AppDancer has added support for SCCP (Skinny Client Control Protocol) clients, making monitoring of Cisco VoIP calls possible. Monitoring for Oracle Server in real time is also available, and the product supports VLANs via recognition of the IEEE 802.11q standard. Starts at $4,995.
