Product Announcement: Reactivity v4.4

Reactivity has announced availability of its newest family of XML-SOA products and they're not only looking sexy, but have some great new features designed to assist in speeding up your SOA initiative. Reactivity's v4.4 release focuses on XML Enabled Networking, or XEN. It's offering up several product lines, from entry-level to enterprise-class, with some tasty new features like auto-discovery that really is automated and a co-processor mode designed to compete with traditional competitor IBM-DataPower by integrating the ability to utilize a Reactivity device as an XML co-processor as well as a proxy-based set of XML/SOA services.

Reactivity's auto-discovery is facilitated through JMX (Java Management eXtensions) and offers truly automated discovery of services residing within most JavaEE application platforms such as JBoss, BEA WebLogic, and IBM WebSphere. Through extensive partnerships, such as those with AmberPoint, Reactivity's newest devices can also auto-discover services deployed on a Microsoft .NET platform. This is a definite advantage of competitors in the SOA Management space that require agents in order to perform "auto-discovery" functions.

Also new is Reactivity's ability to perform in co-processor mode, which makes it possible to harness the acceleration features of the device from applications without requiring an additional hop through a proxy.

Reactivity offers three versions of its products: XML Accelerator, Secure XML Router and XML Security Gateway. The XML Security Gateway is a perimeter focused solution offering XML threat defense, privacy enforcement, access control, routing, tranformation and logging. The Secure XML Router provides content based routing, access control, transformation/mediation and logging (no threat defense). Both products support WS-Security and are based on Reactivity's patented XML Content Router (the core of the XML Accelerator as well).

The products are now offered in both a 1U and 2U configuration built on Sun hardware. Both the 2450 and 4000 platforms come with 2GB RAM and dual RAID 73GB hot-swappable disk (34GB available). The 2450 comes with dual processors and a 10/100/1000 NIC, the 4000 boasts dual, dual core CPU and 4 GigE interfaces.

Pricing for the 2450 ranges from $40-65,000, the 4000 at $55-$80,000.

Yes, yes, I know. You want to see them tested. So do I, but until we get the Green Bay lab back up and running, we're both just going to have to wait until later this year to see just how much faster v4.4 is over previous versions.
