VMware announced enhancements across its VMware vRealize Cloud Management portfolio. The new capabilities help companies more securely deploy and operate hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The new versions of its offerings enhanced event and data-driven infrastructure automation; improve security for AI-powered operations; deliver network visibility and troubleshooting for applications, networks, and security; and provide increased visibility into potential issues and support requests across teams.

In other VMware news, the company and Lumen Technologies announced an expansion of their partnership to design, development, and deliver edge computing solutions and more secure, work-from-anywhere solutions. Lumen and VMware's combined capabilities will let companies deliver future-forward experiences for any application, to any device, from the global cloud core to the distributed network edge.

Versa Networks announced Versa SASE customers deploying the Single-Pass Parallel Processing architecture found in VOS™ (Versa Operating System) are able to integrate SASE networking and security elements in a single software image, including SD-WAN, routing, Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), Secure Web Gateway (SWG), private access, IDS/IPS, CASB, Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware, Role-Based Access Control, and User and Entity Behavior Analytics. As a result, Versa customers are saving up to 80 percent in costs when deploying Versa SASE compared to competitive solutions that require adding SASE services.

The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) announced the graduation of Open Policy Agent (OPA). OPA is an open-source, general-purpose policy engine that enables unified, context-aware policy enforcement across the entire stack. OPA has demonstrated widespread adoption, an open governance process, feature maturity, and a strong commitment to community, sustainability, and inclusivity to move from the maturity level of incubation to graduation. To officially graduate from incubating status, the project was certified for CII Best Practices Badge, completed security audits and addressed vulnerabilities, defined its own governance, and adopted the CNCF Code of Conduct.

vFunction emerged from stealth and announced a purpose-platform built to transform complex, monolithic Java applications into microservices automatically, efficiently, and intelligently. vFunction is a cloud modernization platform that lets the enterprise modernize legacy Java applications and leverage the benefits of the cloud, including elasticity, reduced cost, and restored engineering velocity. By combining dynamic analysis, static analysis, data science, and automation, the vFunction platform can extract any service from a monolith and transform it into a compilable, working microservice. Unlike generic profiling tools and expensive consulting projects, the vFunction platform provides a repeatable, automated factory model purpose-built for scalable cloud-native modernization.
