NEC Unveils SMB-Oriented Unified Communications Systems

NEC announced an assortment of new products based on the company's Univerge360 people-based approach to unified communications.NEC?s Univerge360 is described by the company as "an approach that puts people, and their role, in the center of communications. Once users? roles are identified, NEC can build a communications solution that best meets the needs of the company." The new products, which are aimed at businesses of all sizes, are based on a "unified infrastructure" composed of communications servers and IP and digital terminals (i.e., phone sets).

The systems aimed at SMBs are based on NEC's Univerge SV8100 and SV8300 servers, which support caller ID, conferencing, voice mail, speed dialing, and other communications functions. Both servers also support NEC's UC for Business software, which enables contact center functionality, rich presence, mobility, and other unified communications functions. Finally, the new DT700 and DT300 terminal series add SIP support, support for VoIP and traditional voice, and XML open interface support to desktop phones.ChannelWeb, TMCNet
