Holiday Shopping Internet Tracker

The holiday shopping season officially kicks off this week, and online retailers’ networks will be put to the test. As they become flooded with holiday shoppers looking for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, the speed at which customers can access the websites from different geographical locations can become unpredictable.

Silver Peak developed a handy graphic that tracks in real-time how Internet traffic is impacting the website performance of online retailers. The company worked with InternetWeatherMap.com, an open community project that maps latency on the Internet, to create a real-time aggregation of the latency impact on many popular online retailer websites.

Green = 0-299ms
Orange = 300-750ms
Red = +750ms

Want to learn more about the details behind the traffic tracker? In this blog post, Silver Peak describes its methodology and provides additional results from its research.
