Cisco Systems is broadening its information security program through partnerships in three key areas, announcing tight integration with leading vendors in each. The partnership program extends Cisco's ability to deliver secure mobility, data security and security management, complementing its strength in network security, authentication/access control, and e-mail and Web security via IronPort products and services.

Cisco is also partnering with several leading SIEM/log management vendors such as ArcSight, LogLogic, netForensics, RSA and Splunk to ensure that these products can report all events from Cisco infrastructure to provide comprehensive device monitoring, correlation, compliance reporting, forensics and log storage.

In the product enhancement news, Security Manager 4.0 provides integrated event and policy management and troubleshooting tools to help enterprises identify and remediate configuration issues on Cisco network security devices. It also offers unified NAT and allows global policies to streamline management. Role-based access control and workflow tools are designed to improve change management programs and ensure separation of duties.

ASA 5500 8.3 includes support for AnyConnect Secure Mobility, threat blocking and improved reporting for its botnet traffic filter capabilities, IPv6 support and global ACL and network objects to improve management across complex environments.
