Bottom line: ISC missed the point that Mitre's recommendations are aimed at educating policy makers about the uses of OSS in the DoD, and these recommendations do nicely sum up some of the benefits as well as the concerns of using OSS. ISC's contentions seem to be a case of stone throwing, and it threw the first one. In a footnote ISC states that Mitre has a financial interest in promoting OSS. What ISC didn't add, however, is that Microsoft is one of its members and that that firm certainly has a vested interest in crushing OSS wherever it lives.
