Most marketing collateral and advertising these days includes a call to "Find us on Facebook," "Follow us on Twitter," or, more recently, "Follow our pins on Pinterest." It can't hurt to encourage people to engage with your brand on multiple social networks, but you need to make sure that when these people do take the time to check you out, there is some "there" there. Unless you look your best on a platform, do not encourage people to follow you there.
