If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step. Check the internetwork for address-update problems with certain Ethernet station nodes, specifically file servers and other bridges. Keep in mind that particular Ethernet station nod es can have a software-application configuration problem in relation to the source-routing field that they are directly transmitting. Did examining the internetwork locate any specific problems with a certain Ethernet station node's or network's addressing? Take the necessary action to resolve the addressing problems with the respective Ethernet station node's or network's parameters; then retest the bridge for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step. Attempt to gather more conclusive fault-isolation data by thoroughly examining the packet transfer from source and destination nodes that is attempting to pass across the bridge.
