No data traffic can get from one side of
the bridge to the other, or data is intermittently getting corrupted when
passing through the bridge.
Thoroughly check the software and hardware configuration of the bridge.
If in an Ethernet and TCP/IP addressing environment, check for the correct
TCP/IP address. Attempt an ICMP ping test.
Are any incorrect configuration parameters present in the bridge?
Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the bridge
for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem
in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists
after retesting, go to the next step.
Attempt
to run bridge diagnostics.
Did running the diagnostics produce any errors that identify a bridge
f
ailure?
Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the bridge
for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem
in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists
after retesting, go to the next step.
A
problem may still exist with the bridge, but to get more conclusive fault-isolation
data,
run a protocol analysis session
.
If after that you cannot conclusively locate the problem, and you continue
to find failure symptoms that point to a bridge problem, refer to the manufacturer's
instructions.
