Failure symptom is experienced on multiple Ethernet segments. On a group of Ethernet segments, nodes are not operating or are hanging or freezing during operation. Remove one of the segment runs involved in the failure area from the repeater or wiring hub. Retest the internetwork. Is the failure symptom gone? You have located the problem to the removed segment area. Troubleshoot the removed segment. Remove the next segment and retest the network. Continue the process of removing segments and then retesting the complete internetwork for the error. Attempt to isolate the problem to one segment. Have you located the problem to a removed Ethernet segment? Troubleshoot the removed segment. If the problem still exists with any of the segments attached separately to a repeater or wiring hub, troubleshoot the hub or repeater. If problems still exist after you troubleshoot the removed segment, come back to this page and attempt to again troubleshoot the problem to identify another specific segment causing the problem. If problems still exist, attempt to troubleshoot the problem as a repeater or wiring hub fault . Remember that if you defined this area of the Ethernet internetwork from data captured during a protocol analysis session, the errors should be troubleshot for their specific error type and category.
