The gateway sessions are running slowly or are unresponsive. Check all the gateway's operational-mode configurations for the proper configuration as to the gateway manufacturer's specifications. Are there any incorrect configuration parameters in any of the gateway's configurations for the hardware and software set up for use with the LAN/host? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step. Check the host to make sure that its session setup and port availability are properly configured to handle communications for all the Ethernet station nodes experiencin g the problem. Are any incorrect configuration parameters present in the host's configuration with regard to session and port capacity for use with the LAN layout of Ethernet station nodes set up to use the gateway? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step. Attempt to run any available gateway diagnostics. Did running the diagnostics produce any errors? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step. A configuration problem may still exist with the gateway or the LAN gateway software. Attempt to get more conclusive fault-isolation data as to the communication between the gateway and the Ethernet station nodes experiencing the problem by performing a protocol analysis . If after using these procedures and performing a protocol analysis you cannot conclusively locate the problem, and you continue to find failure symptoms that point to a gateway problem, refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
