The complete network has trouble accessing or using a host gateway connected to a local segment. Thoroughly check the gateway's configuration as to the gateway manufacturer's hardware and software setup for use with the LAN and the respective host. Double-check all address assignments if in a TCP/IP addressing scheme. Are any incorrect configuration parameters present in the gateway's configuration as to the hardware and software setup for use with the LAN or the host? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step. Check all of the Ethe rnet station nodes that need to access the gateway for the proper configuration with regard to the gateway manufacturer's specifications and TCP/IP addressing. Are any incorrect configuration parameters present in the Ethernet station node's configuration concerning hardware and software setup for use with the gateway? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step. Check the host to make sure that it is properly configured as to session setup and port availability to handle communications to the respective gateway. Are any incorrect configuration parameters present in the host's configuration with regard to hardware and software setup for use with the LAN Ethernet station nodes or the gateway? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step. Attempt to run any available gateway diagnostics. Did running the diagnostics produce any errors? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retest ing, go to the next step. A configuration problem may exist with the gateway or the LAN gateway software.
