13.5 LAN-to-host sessions are intermittently locking up or freezing.


Attempt to run any available gateway diagnostics.


Did running the diagnostics produce any errors?

Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step .

A configuration problem may still exist with the gateway or the LAN gateway software. Thoroughly check the gateway's configuration as to the gateway manufacturer's hardware and software setup for use on the LAN and the respective host.


Are any incorrect configuration parameters present in the gateway's configuration as to the hardware and software setup for use with the LAN or the host?

Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step .

Attempt to get more conclusive fault-isolation data as to the communication between the gateway and the ring stations that are experiencing the problem. Go to page 15 .

If after using this procedure you cannot conclusively locate the problem and continue to find failure symptoms that point to a gateway problem, reference the manufacturer's instructions.
