13.2 One ring station or a group of ring stations has a problem accessing or using a host gateway connected to a local ring. Check all the ring stations experiencing the problem for the proper configuration as to the gateway manufacturer's specifications. Are any incorrect configuration parameters present in the ring stations' configuration as to the hardware and software setup for use with the gateway? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step . Check the host to make sure that it is properly configured as to session setup and port availability to handle communications for all the ring stations that are experiencing the problem. Are any incorrect configuration parameters present in the host's configuration as to the hardware and software setup for use with the LAN ring stations? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step . Attempt to run any available gateway diagnostics. Did running the diagnostics produce any errors? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step . A configuration problem may still exist with the gateway or the LAN gateway software. Attempt to get more conclusive fault-isolation data concerning the communication between the gateway and the ring stations experiencing the problem. Go to page 15. If after using this procedure you cannot conclusively locate the problem and you continue to find failure symptoms that point to a gateway problem, reference the manufacturer's instructions.
