13.1 The entire network has a problem accessing or using a host gateway connected to a local ring. Thoroughly check the gateway's configuration as to the gateway manufacturer's hardware and software setup for use with the LAN and the respective host. Are any incorrect configuration parameters present in the gateway's configuration as to the hardware and software setup for use with the LAN or the host? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step . Check all the ring stations that need to access the gateway for the proper configuration as to the gateway manufacturer's specifications. Are any incorrect configuration parameters present in the ring station's configuration as to hardware and software setup for use with the gateway? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step . Check the host to make sure that it is properly configured as to session setup and port availability to handle communications to the respective gateway. Are any incorrect configuration parameters present in the host's configuration as to hardware and software setup for use with the LAN ring stations or the gateway? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log. If the problem still exists after retesting, go to the next step . Attempt to run any available gateway diagnostics. Did running the diagnostics produce any errors? Take the necessary action to resolve the problem and retest the gateway for proper operation. If the failure symptom is gone, record the problem in the network maintenance and service log.
