If you need IP over ATM connectivity to the Internet, most carriers can direct ATM PVCs to an Internet Service Provider, for a fee. In general, the carrier can either provide this service directly or offers a short list of partner ISPs. In much the same approach, private IP services can be integrated to an ATM backbone that is carrying IP traffic. However, gateway services for non-IP traffic, such as Voice over ATM connectivity to Voice over IP is not generally available, and you'll need to install and manage gateways of your own.
