Building an ATM Wide Area Network

July 26, 1999
By David Willis

Managing the Network
Many platform-specific ATM Network Management systems address configuration and fault management, but availability of ATM interfaces for service level management is limited especially for T1 and IMA-based access. Performance measurement of ATM networks for monitoring carrier service levels is still evolving, and most carriers don't offer much more than monthly reports of traffic measured between their own POPs.
