MCSE Internet Information Server 4.0 Study Guide

There are many aspects to security, many of which are beyond the scope of this book. However, the following security axiom applies to most situations, including Windows NT Server and Internet Information Server:

No system is secure from a knowledgeable user and idiots.

To illustrate both points, consider a typical organization's IT shop. Can an organization prevent a system administrator from doing damage to the system? Not really; the best you can do is to put some obstacles in the way and maintain an audit trail to see who did the damage. You cannot stop a knowledgeable user such as a system administrator from doing damage if they are determined to do so. As a consultant, I am called upon frequently by my customers to discuss security, generally after a security breach has occurred.
