Securing Internal Networks

Microsoft Internet Information Server 4: The Complete Reference
First, a disclaimer. If you plan to connect an internal network to a Web server
that's also connected to the Internet, you need to take security precautions to
keep hackers from attacking your network. This chapter doesn't provide a
complete solution for protecting your system. (If I knew all the answers to making a
computer system invulnerable, I'd be working for the CIA.) Instead, this chapter is designed
to lead you down the path to security enlightenment. It points out security problems and
provides some potential solutions, but these solutions may not work at some installations or
may be ineffective because of existing network or Internet connections. Your job is to study
the risks involved and find solutions that match your own needs.
