A lot of the ROI on social is soft, but I think that harder metrics are starting to become clear, including the ones you mention in this piece. Another place companies are seeing "real" return is in the area of help desk and support--for example, where customer issues are headed off before they become help desk desk ticket items.

re: ROI For UC, Social Media Hard To Find
For UC companies often can point to direct savings. A company I spoke to greatly cut telecom, support and IT costs with their UC system. They were rapidly expanding their offices and everytime some moved to a new office or cube there was no telecom cost, users just had to plug an IP phone into the wall and they had everything they had at their old office.

If you thought consumerization killed UC, think again: 70% of our 488 respondents have or plan to put systems in place. Of those, 34% will roll UC out to 76% or more of their user base. And there’s some good news for UCaaS providers.
