Upstarts add intelligence to storage
Good commentary by Howard Marks. Upstarts are different from startups. They're threatening disruption of the existing order. They also bring some kind of intelligence to the party, not just Violin's speeds and feeds. That intelligence is often in the form of storage management software or a software appliance.
