Cloud Computing has various flavors, each purposely aimed at aligning with the varying business modules prevalent today. Hybrid cloud computing solutions take advantage of the benefits of both public and private cloud models.

I would add one necessary step to Mr. Bittman's checklist and that would be the need to "commercialize" existing private clouds so as to put them on par with the public cloud offerings. For Hybrid Cloud to become a reality IT must become a service provider and mimic the pricing and packaging of the public CSPs.

Imagine if a user could go to a Expedia/Orbitz like interface and design virtual data centers across public and private providers, get an estimate of cost before purchase, procure, deploy, manage and govern all in one tool. Cloud Service Brokerage is the path to Hybrid Cloud. The State of Texas proved this model of CSB beginning in 2011 with Pilot Texas Cloud. http://www.slideshare.net/kvja...

If you thought consumerization killed UC, think again: 70% of our 488 respondents have or plan to put systems in place. Of those, 34% will roll UC out to 76% or more of their user base. And there’s some good news for UCaaS providers.
