Manhasset, NY, July 24, 2001 -- Nominations are being accepted for the Best of Show Awards, held during NetWorld+Interop 2001 Atlanta, September 11-13, 2001. The Best of Show Awards, sponsored by CMP Media's InternetWeek, Network Computing, and Key3Media Events' NetWorld+Interop, honor the leading products and technologies exhibited at this premier conference.
"The Best of Show Awards recognize the latest technological advancements in specific category areas. The winners in each category represent the products that we believe have the most significant technical impact on their segment, and are helping to move the needle forward," said Curtis Franklin, Managing Editor/Technology for InternetWeek. Ron Anderson, Network Computing's Senior Technology Editor, added, "We have assembled a technically astute group of judges to ensure that only the very best products of the show receive these prestigious awards."
Editors from InternetWeek and Network Computing with expertise in key categories will be on site to conduct the judging. Awards will be given in eleven separate categories: Carrier Network Infrastructure, Enterprise Network Infrastructure, IP Video & Telephony Applications, Network Applications Software, Network Management, Network Servers & Peripherals, Performance Enhancement, Performance Test & Measurement, Security, Services Providers, WAN & Remote-Access Equipment. New this year is the "Best Startup Product" category, the winner of which will be selected from the list of Best of Show finalists who also meet the additional Best Startup Product criteria. Additional eligibility criteria for the Best Startup Product category will be that the vendor must have existed as an independent company for two years or less. An overall Grand Prize Winner will be selected, and conference attendees will once again determine the award for People's Choice, when they cast their votes on-site from among the finalists.
Nominations are due by August 20, 2001. Participation in the Best of Show Awards is limited to vendors that are primary exhibitors at the Atlanta event or those companies that have booths as part of these partner pavilions only: Wi-Fi, Microsoft, Novell, Micromuse, Check Point OPSEC, Cisco CPN, Cisco Avvid, Extreme, 10 Gigabit Ethernet Alliance, and Electronic Industries Association (EIAK) Korea Technology Pavilion. For eligibility, products or services must be announced no earlier than August 10, 2001, with a product release no later than January 15, 2001.
