Manhasset, NY, June 7, 2000 -- CMP Media’s Network Computing, the best read networking publication, providing in-depth, comprehensive product, technology and service reviews announces several initiatives which will propel them forward in delivering the next level of service to its readers - The Driving Force For Business. Among these projects:

  • Network Computing and telezoo.com, the B2B telecommunications marketplace, announced a strategic partnership designed to better facilitate the buying and selling of telecommunications products and services. Forging a co-branding relationship, both organizations will leverage each other’s content using telezoo.com's facilitated e-commerce engine as a platform.

"Our partnership with Network Computing further enhances the tremendous buyer and seller community we created," said Elias Shams, president, CEO and Chief Zoo Keeper for telezoo.com. "As a great resource for everything IT, Network Computing adds to the breadth and depth of telezoo.com and in turn, we provide Network Computing with a commerce platform that complements their editorial content. As a former network manager, I recognize the tremendous value-add Network Computing provides in the buying process. We are very excited about the potential of this partnership." • Network Computing is in the implementation stages of changing their current tagline to "The Driving Force for Business." The decision was made to emphasize the publication’s focus on enabling its readers to make the purchase decisions that drive businesses forward. The new tagline defines the importance and value of the Network Computing reader — The Technology Expert. "Throughout its ten year history, Network Computing’s tagline has evolved to keep pace with the evolution of the Network itself. In 1990 we were "Computing in a Network Environment", then in 1993 we became "The Magazine For Client Server Computing", in 1994, "For Client Server Computing" and then from 1996 to the present, "Solutions for the Networked Enterprise." said Katherine Dopman, Director of Sales & Marketing East for Network Computing.

  • On the public relations front, Fritz Nelson, Publisher of Network Computing will be appearing on an upcoming segment of "The Next Wave," a new technology television series of half-hour programs concentrating on issues of B2B technologies featuring business leaders and industry experts. The particular segment, scheduled to air on CNBC (airing as paid programming) June 4 at 1:30 EST, focuses on Extranets and Network Security. Fritz will be interviewed by host Leonard Nimoy, a distinguished actor, film and television director, who has recently developed a reputation as a technology guru, serving as a weekly featured guest on National Public Radio’s Market Place and is working with several large Internet companies.

  • This October, Network Computing will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary with special features, contests and a look back on ten years of Network Computing history. "Overall, it’s an incredible accomplishment, when countless publications live and die these days as quickly as the lifespan of a firefly," said Fritz Nelson, Publisher of Network Computing, "We’ve got some exciting things planned for the Anniversary issue, including a look back at the decade’s greatest products, companies, technologies, people and even self-nominated readers. We can’t leave out the greatest failures too…It should be a lot of fun, very informative and a must-save issue for all." He continued, "The importance of this anniversary is not just to take a look back, but to examine where influential companies, products and technologies will lead us in the coming decade."

  • Lastly, Network Computing is proud to announce the hire of Felicia Hamerman as Director of Marketing. Felicia has a long and prestigious history at CMP Media, most recently holding the position of Director of Marketing for CMP’s InternetWeek. "We are very excited to welcome Felicia to our team," said Kathryn Dopman, Director of Sales & Marketing East, "She brings with her not only a wealth of experience, but a dynamic flare for consistently driving a project from the very first brainstorming session through to completion." Felicia will officially start on June 19, 2000.

Network Computing hopes that with the above mentioned initiatives: The partnership with telezoo.com, Network Computing’s new tagline, "The Driving Force for Business", Publisher, Fritz Nelson appearing on The Next Wave, along with the Network Computing 10th Anniversary Issue publishing in October and the addition of Director of Marketing, Felicia Hamerman will propel them forward in the IT marketplace.

Network Computing (http://www.networkcomputing.com), published by CMP Media, Manhasset, N.Y., is the only IT publication providing in-depth, comprehensive product, technology and service reviews from a real-world perspective to 220,000 IT Professionals–The Technology Experts–biweekly telling them what works, how it works, and who to buy it from.
