NETWORK COMPUTING MAGAZINE TO LAUNCH NEW CAREERS SECTION IN APRIL 3RD ISSUE

February 8, 2000

Manhasset, NY, February 8, 2000 -- CMP Media’s Network Computing is launching its Careers section beginning on April 3, 2000 and it will appear in the first issue of each month. This section is targeted towards highly skilled networking professionals looking for the resources to improve job skills, build a solid work background and ensure the most satisfying and profitable career track.

The premier issue’s editorial will focus primarily on the rapid growth in IT and the issues it raises for managers and employees, including budgets, staff size, compensation, and quality of life. The May 1st issue will focus on recruiting, training, work environments, employment contracts and outsourcing. The June 12th issue will run results from the Meta Group’s Q1 year-2000 IT Survey. Future issues’ editorial will be a mix of trend information and salary survey results. "Given the shortage of IT professionals in the marketplace right now, this is a timely and valuable addition to our publication," said Fritz Nelson, Editor-in-Chief, Network Computing. "We are fulfilling our readers' needs by supplying them with resources and information to help them in the hiring and management of staff as well as guiding them in making their own career choices."

Advertisers are offered an integrated media program. This program features a standard ad in print, a text ad appearing in Network Computing’s weekly email newsletter with a link to the advertisers Web site, and an online text ad in the Careers section on Network Computing’s Web site.

Network Computing, published by CMP Media, Manhasset, N.Y., is the only networking publication providing in-depth, comprehensive, product, technology and service reviews from a real-world perspective to 220,000 IT professionals–The Net Generation–bi-weekly. In addition, the publication consistently has the largest average-issue audience among all networking publications, according to Simmons and IntelliQuest. Network Computing received the 1997 Maggie Award for Best Computer & Telecommunications (trade) Publication, was a Finalist for the 1997 Computer Press Award for Best Online Site, and most recently, was a 1999 Neal Award Finalist.
