Re: What else
You keep up a point here, for sure cost and infra will on better side but people like me will always thinks with whom i am sharing ....

Re: What else
Your concern seems valid here @Vir, but being social now its time make DC social .... just think upon cost, infra and factors...

Re: What else
That is point Bill, i understand security is top and endless concern, but just think of 90's when windows did not had tough competion even after security loop holes people were using it at very large scale, but picture today has entirely changes we do have number products, competitors in market with confidence of no security loop ..now biggest challenge arrive as how to judge best for my netwoirk.

Re: What else
I agree and counselled to your comment, but if we look towards cloud which i guess is working in similar kind of fashion C level is more worried about their data in X hands without clue whats going on in cloud with their data, how safe it is...hope cloud vendor is not biased with some enterprise followed up with some more points...

Re: well done
Wanted to call your attention to a related article by Mark Peters-- The Future Datacenter Comes With Fries. He's talking about how the enterprise datacenter is moving toward a bundled, integrated, pre-configured, standards-based model.  Sound familiar? It's great read if you haven't already.

Re: well done
@HaileyMcK - Thank you and wonderful to see you here as well :) Storage + Networking + Compute = Next-generation virtualization and cloud capabilities. Hope that math works.

You're absolutely right - the data center model will have to evolve as we become a more cloud-based, app-centric workforce.

Re: Simplicity through convergence
@SaneIT - You're absolutely right! The simplification that a converged system brings is quite impressive. We have one management console, one place to control all core resources, and an easy way to scale out as needed. Plus, with costs becoming even more competitive - SMBs can get into the converged infrastructure game as well.

Re: What else
@virsing211 - When is security not a concern :) Especially when it comes to cloud and traffic traversing the WAN. Converged systems will continue to make an impact on the modern data center. This will happen from a density, efficiency, resiliency, and even security perspective.

Re: What else
@aditshar - Great point and great seeing you on the boards :) Honestly, you'd be surprised how well competing systems can work together. Example: Deploying Citrix on VMware. When designing your environment - management is a critical part of the planning process. With that in mind, it's important to create your data center model where management of heterogenous systems won't be an issue.

2014 Private Cloud Survey
Respondents are on a roll: 53% brought their private clouds from concept to production in less than one year, and 60% extend their clouds across multiple datacenters. But expertise is scarce, with 51% saying acquiring skilled employees is a roadblock.
