About Managing IP Resources

One of the reasons IP works as well as it does is because it is node-centric: devices can locate and communicate with any other device on any other network, without involving centralized management resources. The downside to this is that each device is an entirely independent entity, which works against the lower TCO that centralized management and configuration offers.

But, there are ways to improve the managability of IP devices, providing network managers with the low TCO they've come to expect, without stealing any functionality from IP in general. In this seminar on Managing IP Resources, Network Computing will be looking at the technologies, products, and techniques that allow this to happen, including:

  • Automated address assignments (RARP, BOOTP, DHCP)
  • Automated route management (RIP, Router Discovery)
  • Automated application configurations (DHCP, ACAP)
  • Centralized configuration management (Directory Services)
  • User-Profile management (Directory-based Configs)
The entire seminar will be interactive, educational and engaging, encouraging discussions and audience participation.
