SSDs and New Storage Options in the Data Center

March 13, 2013
11:00 AM PT / 2:00 PM ET

Solid state is showing up at every level of the storage stack -- as a memory cache, an auxiliary storage tier for hot data that's automatically shuttled between flash and mechanical disk, even as dedicated primary storage, so-called Tier 0. But if funds are limited, where should you use solid state to get the best bang for the buck? In this Network Computing webcast, we'll discuss various deployment options.

Quest Software Launches Integrated Network and Application Performance Management At Interop 2010

NEW YORK (BUSINESS WIRE) Quest Software, Inc. is showcasing its network and application management expertise at Interop New York 2010, Oct. 18-22, at the Javits Convention Center. At booth 236, Foglight Network Management System (NMS) is demonstrating comprehensive standalone network management capabilities, as well as integration with Foglight, the industry-leading application performance monitoring solution. This pairing provides IT Operations teams a robust offering that not only lowers the cost of end use, but also simplifies overall performance monitoring and management.

Jim Frey, a research director with Enterprise Management Associates, made the following observations about network management needs in today's IT organizations: "As the line between applications and the infrastructure continues to blur in highly dynamic, virtualized environments, the need to share information and visualization across the traditional IT domain silos takes on new importance. There is no area more acutely aware of this need than network management, which is constantly bombarded by disruptive technologies across very distributed environments."

"Monitoring has been around for decades now, but, IT organizations continue to be plagued by multiple disconnected monitoring tools used by the various technology departments - applications, network, the user experience, and more - wasting time and money, and leading to poor service levels," said Matt Bolton, vice president of network management, Quest Software. "The integration of APM and NMS capabilities with the use of Foglight means organizations can have the best of both worlds - sophisticated yet easy-to-use tools for each IT discipline, and a platform for teams to communicate and solve problems faster - before they impact users and the business."

IT organizations currently using disparate tools to monitor and manage the network and applications running on that network should visit Quest at Interop NY, booth 236, and request a private demonstration and discussion. The integrated offering will be generally available later this month.
