Symantec announced the availability of public beta of Norton 360 for the Windows Vista operating system

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced the availability of public beta of Norton 360 for the Windows Vista operating system. Consumers who are currently running the shipping version of Vista (build 6000) can now deploy Symantec's new all-in-one consumer security service. Norton 360 combines Symantec's trusted, industry-leading PC security and tuneup technologies, along with new automated local and online backup, as well as transaction security capabilities. The beta of Norton 360 for Windows Vista is available for public download at http://www.norton.com/norton360beta/.

People who register for the Norton 360 public beta by Jan. 15, 2007, can take advantage of a special offer to receive a $30.00 discount off the purchase price of the download version of this premium solution upon its availability. "In today's fast-evolving threat landscape, computer users need smart, manageable security that provides layers of protection beyond the basics," said Enrique Salem, group president, Consumer Business Unit, Symantec Corp. "Since the Vista operating system is not a security solution and only includes some of the basics, consumers need a solution like Norton 360 for comprehensive protection."
